Survival is a strong message coming from this novel. Callum will illustrate how the novel has inspired him as an individual.
One part in the novel that inspired me was the blowing up of the bridge. They did this because this was the main entrance to Warawee, and without this bridge the enemy could not bring in as many vehicles, they would have to bring in supplies by plane or boat. This was Homer's idea... The group had asked each other whether they wanted to do this. It took time for the whole group to agree they wanted to do it. In the end they decided to blow the bridge up but the still didnt know how. This inspired me because they all conquered their fears knowing that someone else tried this which resulted in them dying.
